Donation Policy
This Donation Policy supplements and forms an integral part of the FindYourBlessing Terms of Use. Any individual who makes a donation through the Platform (“Donor”) does so as a “Visitor” under the Terms of Use, and is therefore subject to all rights and obligations defined therein. The term “Donor” in this Policy refers to the Visitor while making a voluntary gift to a monk or temple/ monastery. By making a donation through FindYourBlessing, you („Visitors” or „Donor”) agree to the following:
Voluntary and Charitable Nature of Donations
- Gifts, Not Transactions: Donations made via FindYourBlessing are unconditional, voluntary gifts from you (the Donor) to the selected monk or monastery (the Beneficiary). They are not payments for goods or services, and no reciprocal benefit or material reward is expected or provided. Any spiritual guidance or blessings you receive are offered freely and never in exchange for a donation.
- Non-Refundable in Principle: Because donations are voluntary and not tied to any commercial obligation, all completed donations are generally final. You are responsible for reviewing recipient details and donation amounts before confirming. We are not obligated to issue refunds.
- Exception Handling: In limited circumstances—such as clear fraud, technical error, or failure of a payment processor—we may investigate and assist in coordinating a resolution. However, any refund (if applicable) will be issued solely via the original payment method and only in collaboration with the payment processor or the recipient, as FindYourBlessing does not handle or hold the funds.
- No Financial Intermediation: FindYourBlessing does not collect, store, manage, or redistribute donations. All donations flow directly from you to the chosen recipient via integrated third-party processors (e.g., PayPal or Payoneer). We act solely as a technology provider facilitating this connection.
Donation Process and Payment Methods
- Third-Party Providers: FindYourBlessing utilizes secure third-party payment processors (e.g., PayPal, Payoneer) to process donations. Donations are securely processed on the FindYourBlessing platform using embedded tools provided by third-party payment processors (such as Stripe or PayPal). We do not store or have access to your payment credentials. The financial transaction itself is handled by the processor, and FindYourBlessing never takes custody of the donated funds. We are not a financial intermediary, broker, or money transmitter. We do not collect or store your card or banking data.
- Authorization of Charges: By submitting your payment details, you authorize the processor to charge the stated amount. For recurring donations, you authorize a series of charges as scheduled. The charge on your bank or card statement may list FindYourBlessing or the payment processor.
- Failed Transactions: If a transaction fails (due to insufficient funds, technical errors, etc.), no charge is made. You may retry with a different payment method. We are not responsible for any bank-related fees incurred (e.g., currency conversion, overdraft).
- Receipts and Confirmations: After each successful donation, you will receive an on-screen confirmation and an email receipt. This receipt is a record of the transaction but not a tax-deductible document unless the recipient issues one directly (if applicable under local law).
Receipts provided by FindYourBlessing serve as transaction confirmations only and are not tax-deductible donation receipts. For the 5% platform fee, an invoice may be issued by FindYourBlessing. The remaining 95% is a direct donation to the beneficiary, and tax-deductible documentation (if applicable) may only be provided by the beneficiary (e.g. monk or monastery), in accordance with local laws.
Fees and Distribution of Donations
- Platform Fee (currently 0%, up to 5% in the future): At this time, FindYourBlessing does not deduct any platform fee from donations – 100% of your contribution (minus standard payment processing fees) goes directly to the selected monk or monastery.
In the future, we may introduce a platform service fee of up to 5% to help cover the operational, technical, security, and customer support costs of maintaining the platform. If this happens, the fee will be automatically deducted by the payment processor and will always be clearly disclosed during the donation process.
For example: on a €20 donation, up to €1 may go toward maintaining the platform, while the remaining €19 (minus payment provider fees) would continue to go directly to the intended recipient.
- Payment Processor Fees: PayPal, Payoneer or other processors may charge their own fees (percentage and fixed per transaction), which are deducted automatically. FindYourBlessing does not control or profit from these fees.
- Direct Transfer to Recipients: Donations are disbursed directly to the selected monk or monastery. Depending on their setup, they may receive funds instantly via PayPal/ Payoneer or on a periodic basis. If the recipient's account is not set up or the campaign is invalid, you may be contacted to reallocate or reclaim your donation.
- No Custody of Funds: At no point does FindYourBlessing hold or manage donated funds. We provide the platform through which donors and recipients connect.
Recipient Responsibility and Use of Funds
- Autonomy of Recipients: Donations made through the Platform are transferred directly to the designated monk or temple/monastery through the payment processor. FindYourBlessing does not collect, store, or redistribute donations—nor do we serve as a financial intermediary. Once a donation is completed, it becomes the property of the recipient, who assumes full responsibility for its use in line with their spiritual mission.
- Project-Specific Giving: If a donation is made toward a specific campaign (e.g., “Meditation Hall Renovation”), the recipient is expected to apply the funds accordingly. However, the donation remains an unconditional gift. If the project is completed, canceled, or overfunded, the recipient may reallocate remaining funds toward other spiritually aligned purposes.
- Recipient Verification: FindYourBlessing conducts basic vetting of monks and temples/ monasteries during onboarding (e.g., documentation or community referrals), but we cannot oversee or enforce how funds are spent after disbursement. The recipient is solely accountable for adhering to their local laws and mission. If a violation is reported (e.g., misuse or fraud), we may take action such as suspending their account or halting future disbursements, but we are not liable for past donations.
- No Legal Endorsement: A listing on FindYourBlessing does not constitute a legal endorsement, charity certification, or guarantee of status in any jurisdiction. We require all recipients to comply with local regulations, but donors should conduct their own due diligence if needed.
Donor Rights and Commitments
- Transparency: Donors have the right to understand how their donation is processed and where it goes. We clearly disclose any applicable platform or payment processing fees before confirmation. Since FindYourBlessing does not receive, hold, or manage the donations, our role is limited to facilitating a technical environment where donations can flow directly from donor to recipient through trusted payment processors.
- Anonymous Giving: Donors may choose to give anonymously, meaning their name is not displayed publicly or to the recipient. However, even with anonymous donations, certain basic information (such as name or email) may be visible to the payment provider and, where legally required, to the recipient for acknowledgment or tax record purposes. This information is never sold or used beyond the donation context.
- Respectful Use: Notes or messages accompanying donations should be respectful. Using the donation system to harass, promote, or advertise unrelated content violates our Acceptable Use Policy and may lead to account restriction.
Security and Fraud Prevention
- Secure Transactions: All donation transactions occur via third-party PCI-compliant payment processors (e.g., PayPal, Payoneer). FindYourBlessing does not store any credit card or banking information. Donors are encouraged to use secure internet connections and protect their account credentials.
- Fraud Monitoring: If a donation is suspected to be unauthorized or fraudulent, our system (in cooperation with the payment processor) may delay, pause, or block the transaction. We may also take internal steps (e.g., suspending a user or a recipient profile) to protect platform integrity.
- Reporting Fraud: If you suspect fraud—whether as a donor or a recipient—please notify us immediately. We will review the issue and may cooperate with payment providers or authorities as needed. However, since we do not handle the funds directly, the resolution will often depend on the outcome of the processor’s investigation.
Changes to the Donation Policy
We may update this Donation Policy to reflect changes in applicable laws, platform functionality, or payment systems. The "Last Updated" date will always reflect the most recent revision. If substantial changes are made that affect donor rights or obligations, we will notify active users via email or platform notices. Continued use of the donation feature after an update constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
