Privacy Policy

FindYourBlessing ("we" or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share personal information when you use our international spiritual donation and community platform, and what rights you have. We aim to be GDPR and CCPA compliant while keeping our privacy practices transparent and user-friendly, avoiding unnecessary legal jargon.

Information We Collect

  • Information from Donors: If you create an account or donate, we collect personal details you provide (like name, email, contact details), donation information (such as donation amounts and dates), and any preferences or messages you include with donations. Payment information (e.g. credit card numbers) is not stored on our servers – it is securely processed by our payment partners (e.g. PayPal or Payoneer) in accordance with their privacy policies. We also maintain records of your donations and interactions on the platform for accounting and support purposes.
  • Information from Visitors: If you visit our website without logging in or donating, we still collect some data about your visit to ensure the site functions properly and to analyze usage. This includes technical data such as your IP address, browser type, device information, and cookies or similar identifiers associated with your browsing session. This information is generally collected in an anonymized or aggregated way, and is used to improve your experience (for example, remembering site preferences) and to understand how visitors use our site.
  • Content and Community Data: As a community platform, we also process content you post or share (like comments, profile information, or messages). We store this content to display it to the community and may analyze it to enforce our Community Guidelines (using automated tools as described later). Please avoid sharing sensitive personal details in your profile or posts. We do not actively ask for or intentionally collect sensitive personal data such as your religious beliefs, health information, or other special categories. Our platform is focused on spirituality, but we do not require you to disclose your religion or other sensitive information – any such details you choose to share publicly are at your discretion.

How We Use Personal Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

  • Providing and Improving the Service: We process your personal data to provide the core features of our platform – for example, to create and manage your user account, to facilitate donations to Buddhist monks (including processing payments and sending donation receipts), to display posts or comments you make, and to personalize your experience on the site. We also use data to maintain and improve platform functionality, fix bugs, and develop new features in line with our spiritual community’s needs.
  • Compliance and Security: We may use your information to comply with applicable laws and regulations (e.g. financial record-keeping for donations), and to enforce our Terms and Community Guidelines. This includes using data to prevent fraud or other misuse – for instance, ensuring that donations are legitimate and monitoring for any fraudulent activity. We also utilize data (like IP addresses or user activity logs) to maintain the security of our platform, protect against illegal activities, and address violations.
  • Communications: We use contact information (like your email) to communicate with you. This may include responding to your inquiries, sending important account or transaction notices, and providing updates about the platform. If you are a donor, we might send you occasional updates on the impact of your donation or news about the FindYourBlessing community. We will only send marketing or promotional emails (for example, a newsletter or information about new features) if you have opted in to receive them. You can unsubscribe from these at any time.
  • Analytics and User Experience: We use cookies and analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) to understand how users interact with our site and to improve the user experience. For example, we analyze which pages are visited most and how users navigate the site, so we can make the platform easier to use. These analytical insights are based on aggregated data – we do not use them to profile individual users. All analytics are performed in line with user consent choices for cookies (see our Cookie Policy below).

We process personal information only where we have a valid legal basis. In most cases, the primary basis is to fulfill our contract with you – for example, when you register and use our service, we must use your data to provide the platform’s functions (this is necessary to perform the agreement you accept by using FindYourBlessing). In other cases, we rely on legitimate interests (such as improving our services or ensuring security), but we only do so after considering your privacy rights. Where required by law, we may also rely on your consent (for instance, for sending optional marketing emails or setting non-essential cookies) or compliance with a legal obligation (for example, responding to official legal requests).

Third-Party Services and Sharing

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. Your data is only shared in a few specific situations:

  • Service Providers: We use trusted external service providers to support our platform’s operations. This includes payment processors (like PayPal, Payoneer) for handling donations, analytics providers (like Google Analytics) for site usage statistics. If certain monks or users offer online consultations, the platform may optionally provide Jitsi Meet integration, in which case the Jitsi Meet service may act as a technical intermediary for scheduling and establishing the video connection. These providers may process certain personal data on our behalf (for example, processing your credit card payment or hosting community content). They are contractually obligated to use your data only as needed to perform their functions and to protect it to the same standards that we do. For instance, our payment processors receive donation-related information to process transactions, and our analytics provider receives website usage data (which is usually anonymized).
  • Community Recipients: If you donate to or interact with specific beneficiaries on our platform (such as a particular Buddhist monk or organization that you choose to support), we may share certain relevant information with that recipient. For example, if required, we might share your name or provided message with the intended recipient of your donation so they can acknowledge or appreciate your support. We will not share your contact or financial details with recipients without your consent, except as needed to fulfill the donation (and in line with this Privacy Policy).
  • Legal Requirements and Protection: If we are under a duty to disclose or share data to comply with a legal obligation, we may do so. This could happen if we receive a valid subpoena, court order, or other legal request requiring us to provide information. We may also share information if necessary to enforce our terms or protect the rights, property, or safety of FindYourBlessing, our users, or others (for example, to investigate and prevent fraud or security issues).
  • Business Transfers: In the event that FindYourBlessing is involved in a major business transaction such as a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user information may be transferred to the new owner as part of that deal. If that happens, we will notify users (for example, via email or a notice on our site) and your information will remain protected by this Privacy Policy, or we will obtain your consent if required by applicable law.

Aside from the situations above, we won’t share your personal data with third parties. In particular, we do not disclose your information to advertisers or any data brokers, and we do not allow third parties to use it for their own marketing.

Our platform may include links or integrations to external sites (for example, social media sharing buttons). If you choose to interact with those, your data (like the fact that you clicked a share button) may be collected by those third-party services. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any external services you use through FindYourBlessing.

International Data Transfers

FindYourBlessing is a global platform. While we are based in the EU, some of our service providers and systems are located outside of the European Economic Area (EEA). In particular, data may be processed on servers in the United States or other countries that have different data protection laws. For example, our analytics and moderation service providers may operate from the US, and payment transactions might be processed through US-based servers. Whenever we transfer personal data out of the EEA, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your information and comply with GDPR requirements. These safeguards may include using European Commission approved Standard Contractual Clauses, relying on providers that are certified under recognized data protection frameworks, or other legal mechanisms. Our aim is to make sure your personal data enjoys a high level of protection wherever it is processed.

Data Retention and Security

We only retain personal data for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy or as required by law. For example, donation records may be kept for a certain period to comply with financial regulations and tax obligations, but if you delete your account or request deletion of your data, we will remove or anonymize your personal information unless we are required to keep it for legal reasons. We periodically review the data we hold and delete or anonymize information that is no longer needed.

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information from unauthorized access or disclosure. This includes using encryption (e.g., HTTPS for data in transit), secure server infrastructure, and administrative controls to limit access to personal data. Our payment processing partners are PCI-DSS compliant, meaning your payment details are handled with a high standard of security. Please note that no system can be guaranteed 100% secure, but we continuously work to protect your data. You are also responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential. If you have any reason to believe that your interaction with us is no longer secure (for example, if you suspect your account has been compromised), please contact us immediately.

Your Privacy Rights

This Privacy Policy is intended to apply globally. While certain sections reference specific laws (such as the GDPR in the European Union or the CCPA in California), we aim to uphold similar privacy protections for all users worldwide, regardless of location, to the extent permitted by applicable laws. We respect your rights over your personal data. Under the GDPR (for users in the EU and similar jurisdictions) and the CCPA (for California residents), you have various rights that you can exercise. These include:

  • Right of Access: You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right of Rectification: If any of your information is incorrect or outdated, you have the right to have it corrected or updated.
  • Right to Erasure: You may ask us to delete your personal data. If you choose to delete your FindYourBlessing account, we will remove personal information associated with your account (though we may retain limited records as required for legal compliance, such as donation transaction logs).
  • Right to Restrict or Object: You can object to certain processing or ask us to limit how we use your data, particularly if you believe the data is inaccurate or our usage is not lawful. For example, you can opt out of any direct marketing communications and we will honor that choice.
  • Right to Data Portability: You have the right to obtain your personal data in a commonly used, machine-readable format. We will provide you with an export of your data if you request it, to the extent required by law.
  • Right to Opt Out of “Sale” of Personal Data: While FindYourBlessing does not sell personal information, the CCPA gives California residents the right to direct a business that sells personal data to stop doing so. We confirm that we do not sell your data in the traditional sense; if this practice ever changes, we will update this policy and provide a mechanism to opt out.
  • Right against discrimination: We will never punish or discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights under any privacy law (for instance, we won’t deny you services or provide a different level of service just because you made a data request).

To exercise any of these rights, you can contact us (see "Contact Us" below). For certain requests, we may need to verify your identity to protect your privacy (for example, by confirming you have access to the email associated with your account). We will respond to your request within the timeframe required by law (typically within 30 days for GDPR, and 45 days for CCPA requests, with the possibility of a reasonable extension).

Children’s Privacy

FindYourBlessing is intended only for individuals who are 18 years of age or older. By creating an account, donating, or interacting with the platform, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, if higher). We do not knowingly collect personal data from individuals under the age of 18. If we learn that someone under 18 has registered or provided personal information, we will promptly delete the account and associated data.

Parents or guardians who believe that their child has used the platform in violation of this policy are encouraged to contact us at support @findyourblessing.com.
